Check out our favourite places for photos and capture Provence at its very best!

1. The most beautiful view over the village

If you arrive from the city of Cogolin, you’ll see the village from its best angle. The castle of Grimaud stands proudly overlooking the Provençal houses and owes its splendour to the village’s medieval history.

A wide-open meadow, in bloom in spring, where horses graze, adds even more colour to the already exquisite, picture-perfect scene.

2. The most beautiful view of Port Grimaud

The bridge that links the Rue des Artisans and the Place du Marché is where you’ll find the most iconic view of Port Grimaud.

A stunning scene featuring colourful houses, cast iron pillars and archways. Add to that the boats coming and going and a few good restaurants alongside the canals, and you’re most definitely in the Little Venice of Provence.

3. Views of the church

The Provençal Romanesque-style Church of Saint-Michel stands proudly in the village of Grimaud.

And it can be admired from several spots throughout the village!

First of all, from the castle, the church towers standing proudly in amongst the Provençal houses of this medieval village. Then, on the way back down from the castle, you can stop again to admire it from the Rue du Balladou. Finally, the Place de la Mairie provides another view of the bell tower with a pretty little square and fountain in the foreground.

4. Fairies bridge

There’s no secret to it, to get the best view of the Pont des Fées (Fairies bridge), you need to go there! The river flows past the base of the monument from autumn to spring, only adding to the already perfect scene of a monument set in the midst of the Maures mountains.

Wild spring flowers bloom and add an even more rustic touch to this place.

5. Views of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez

From the castle of Grimaud or Saint-Roch windmill, you can admire a panoramic view of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

From the village to the sea, passing Grimaud plain and with Port Grimaud on one side, this view is proof that Grimaud is rooted right between Provence and the French Riviera.

6. Views of the castle

The castle of Grimaud has been standing proudly at the village peak for a thousand years, observing and being observed.

On a nature walk across Saint-Michel meadow, from Saint-Roch windmill or the Fairies bridge on a tour of heritage sites, the castle can be admired from various angles and the conclusion is always the same, that the castle of Grimaud is the icon of a historic village.

7. View of the windmill

The windmill is one of the key features of Provence.
Since the 16th century, Saint-Roch windmill has been one of the many heritage buildings shaping Grimaud’s history.

From the castle, a spectacular view of the windmill and Maures mountains looks like a painting of an authentic scene of Provence.

8. Port Grimaud from up above

As you cross each bridge, Port Grimaud is a display of dazzling colours that the Impressionists will regret never having had the chance to paint.

To discover the highest view of the fifty-something-year-old creation that is this Little Venice of Provence, head to the Church of Saint-François d’Assise and up to the rooftop.

Two euros and 78 steps later and you’ll find yourself on the top of the church, ready to admire the 360-degree panoramic view of the lacustrian town and surrounding area.

9. The most beautiful bougainvillea

The month of May is when the bougainvillea starts to bloom, putting its dazzling purple flowers on display.

This is yet another of Grimaud’s appearances, which changes with each season.

The most beautiful bougainvilleas can be seen on the Rue de la Treille and Rue du Baou. There’s even a trail that takes you around the most beautiful bougainvilleas so you don’t miss any of them.

10. Menhirs with style

Grimaud is lucky to still boast some remaining menhirs that have survived thousands of years to bear witness to history.

Once in amongst the vines, one of these menhirs is now living the dream at the Golf Up driving range.

It’s time to go and practice your slice and admire this ruin of the Neolithic era!

11. La Placette

For those looking for peace and quiet or a romantic atmosphere, La Placette is a hidden corner of the village that we recommend exploring.

The little square is bordered by stone houses, the trickling sound of the fountain echoes and plants flourish in every season.

La Placette is like an interlude in the tour of the village, a peaceful break before continuing your exploration of Grimaud’s treasures and secrets.
