Wool Fair

The “Foire de la Laine” (Wool Fair) brings to the Gulf of Saint Tropez a blend of Provençal traditions and markets selling crafts and local products.

Wool Fair

A tradition in Grimaud

The Foire de la Laine is a traditional celebration that has taken place on Ascension Thursday for ages.
The day’s programme is bucolic: market stalls bursting with color, fragrances of our beloved Provence, homemade produce and smiles full of sincerity.

After tasting various local specialties and purchasing your favorite discoveries, you can enjoy various activities including, throughout the day, demonstrations of ancient occupations, such as herding and spinning.

Local folklore

Provencal dances

As for tradition, after mass at Saint Michel Church, the folklore group, Escandihado, puts on a Provençal performance of picturesque dances accompanied by Provençal drummers and the distinctive sound of fifes and ‘galoubet’ flutes.

Women, men and children wear traditional Provencal outfits.
The pleasure of sharing local customs can be seen on their faces.

The Wool Fair is a day to reconnect with traditions and share good times with family and friends.

A day punctuated by

numerous events

In 2024, a giant farm will take its place. More than 100 animals will roam freely among our visitors: goats, ponies, donkeys (and colts!), llamas, pigs, hens, guinea fowl, ducks, geese, rabbits, ferrets… farm animals will no longer hold any secrets!

At the same time, a large transhumance with over 60 animals will pass through the village (new for 2024)! Departing from the château parking lot, the goats and sheep will parade past the town hall and through rue des Templiers to Place Neuve… An early-morning rendezvous not to be missed!

Demonstrations of sheep shearing and wool sorting will take place throughout the day, accompanied by weaving, carding and garland-making workshops, as well as pony rides, giant wooden games and treasure hunts…

Last but not least, there will be a catering area at the top of the place Neuve, with a choice of take-away dishes.
