The Saint-Michel Festival dates from the Middle Ages..
Like the Foire de la Laine (wool fair), Les Feux de la Saint Jean and the Fête du Village, it is one of the cornerstones of Grimaud tradition. A highlight that hasn’t faded over the years…
The symbolism of this heritage festival is strong, with a car-boot sale and craft market taking place at Grimaud’s two squares.
Religious traditions are also maintained. A Provençal Mass still honors the town’s patron saint and is followed by a procession.
Various activities complete the festival picture (the Escandihado folklore troupe, musical walks, workshops from the past, a mini-farm and pony-rides).
The Saint-Michel Festival has always taken place on the last Sunday in September.
This year, it will offer once again the opportunity to delight your tastebuds thanks to our taste artisans who place the spotlight on the local produce of Provence.
The celebrations wouldn’t be complete without the folklore group, Escandihado. Fifes, drums and traditional dance join the Provençal mass and the procession before the finale at the village’s Place Neuve.
This festive day, a blend of religious tradition and less-religious activities, promises many more surprises!
Throughout the day, there’ll be a huge car-boot sale in the centre of Grimaud.
A chance to sell anything you don’t need. Clothes you don’t wear any more, pottery, small household appliances, CDs and various other items… A good way of earning some cash in a friendly atmosphere.
