La Grimobile

Grimaud is proud to host the major soapbox race, ‘La Grimobile’!
This original and completely crazy event is one of the most enjoyable and unique events of the year in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

The spectacular drifts, eccentric drivers and exciting atmosphere all guarantee that the day will be full throttle from beginning to end.

Will the makeshift vehicles hold out until the finish line? Come and see for yourselves!

Soapbox race

18th & 19th April 2026

Brace yourselves, the cars are on the starting blocks for the La Grimobile soapbox race in Grimaud!
Fifty soapbox racers will be skidding and (we hope) braking around the bends in this unique and wild race through the centre of Grimaud.
Just picture this: makeshift vehicles without an engine, put together with great love and care and plenty of imagination, hurtling full speed through the narrow streets of the village.
A picture-postcard setting, a slope seemingly designed to put on a show and an atmosphere worthy of one of the quirkiest events in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez… All in all, the perfect ingredients for a hilarious and completely bonkers event.
Brakes? Potentially optional. Laughter? Absolutely compulsory!

Time to feel the need, the need for speed!

No driving licence required here, and no risk of getting any speeding tickets! All you need is a good dose of courage and a serious appetite for fun!
Helmets firmly strapped on, our fearless drivers hurtle around the ‘track’ and round the tight bends to the cheers of the crowd, and bursts of laughter.

In the morning, the track opens for test runs, giving the drivers a chance to warm up and feel the first rush on the downhill sections!
In the afternoon, it’s time for the two timed qualifying heats. The village bends show no mercy!
After a day zig-zagging through the streets at full speed, the best drivers (or those still remaining?!) will get a prize.

Prizes to be won

Taking part is the main thing! But winning a prize is pretty cool too isn’t it?
Racers are awarded for:

Speed (the best time over the day)
Comedy (the funniest soapbox car with the wackiest crew)
Spectator’s choice (vote for your favourite soapbox car)

A weekend at full throttle

Music, snacks & fun

The weekend will be filled with high-energy music to accompany the wild atmosphere on the track and the speaker’s endless one-liners.

As soon as the first cars cross the starting line, music will fill the air, creating an atmosphere as hot as the tires on the tarmac.
And because every crazy race deserves an equally epic soundtrack, live concerts will keep the crowd buzzing throughout the event.
Between runs, there’s no time to rest on the grass, we’re counting on you to keep the show going!

Pit-stop, time to recharge at lunchtime!

The village restaurants, food trucks and refreshments stands will all be geared up to satisfy hungry racers and spectators, after all that excitement.
Whether you sit down to eat, grab a bite at a high table or eat on the go, you’ll find everything you need to refuel before the timed heats.

For the youngest spectators, a mini driving circuit will be set up at Place Vieille, to give them their first experience behind the wheel.
Skids are authorised as long as they’re controlled!
