Orienteering races in the village of Grimaud

Fancy exploring the village of Grimaud in a different way? Our orienteering trails invite you to wander through narrow streets, paths and historic sites. Whether you’re with family, friends or on your own, young and old alike can take on the challenge at their own pace: find the hidden markers, read the terrain and let yourself be surprised by the treasures this Provençal village has to offer. Four routes are available, ranging from the most accessible to the most adventurous, so there’s something for everyone. Route 1: The medieval heart of the town (Introductory tour: 1 hour – 1 km) The ideal route for a first exploration. This first route takes you through the narrow streets of the lower part of the medieval village of Grimaud. Ancient cobblestones, colourful façades, fountains and shaded squares… each marker is an opportunity to look up and soak up the unique atmosphere of this hilltop village. A short route accessible to all, perfect for younger children or for a gentle introduction to orienteering. Route 2: Storming the castle (Castle Circuit – 1 hour 15 minutes – 1.8 km) For those who like to climb a little higher. After the charm of the narrow streets, head for the heights! This second route starts at the lower part of the medieval village and guides you to the ruins of Grimaud Castle, which has watched over the plain and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez for centuries. You’ll enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the region. A fine physical challenge, rewarded by a breathtaking viewpoint. Route 3: The Mill Trail (Mill Circuit: 1 hour 30 minutes – 2.7 km) A symbol of Provence joins the adventure. This third route takes the exploration even further by adding the mill to the previous itinerary. After the village and the castle, the route takes you to the Saint-Roch mill, a testament to rural life of yesteryear. It offers a stop steeped in history before returning to the starting point. A comprehensive route, combining built heritage and the surrounding countryside. Route 4: A stroll along the Pont des Fées (Pont des Fées circuit: 2 hours 30 minutes – 3.6 km) The grand route, for lovers of heritage and nature. The ultimate route! It follows the entire previous route and takes you to the Pont des Fées, a discreet and mysterious gem nestled in the Massif des Maures, very close to the village of Grimaud. This bridge, to which legend attaches many tales, provides a magnificent conclusion to an adventure that has taken you through all the riches of the region: medieval architecture, seigneurial history, rural heritage and wild nature. Reserved for the most resilient participants… and the most curious! It’s time to visit Grimaud with a touch of fun by searching for the orienteering course markers. Are you in? How do you get hold of the maps and the stamp card? 1) Download the document online, choose your route and print it at home. 2) The maps and stamp cards are available free of charge from the Grimaud Village Tourist Office during opening hours. Maps are issued in exchange for a form of ID to ensure they are returned. A free activity organised by the Sports Department of Grimaud Town Hall and distributed by the Tourist Office.
