AYOM: the irresistible energy that brings world music to life! A powerful voice, infectious rhythms and an energy that turns every concert into an unforgettable celebration.
AYOM — whose name means ‘Lord of Music’ in the Afro-Brazilian mythology of Candomblé — is a collective of six transatlantic musicians founded in 2018, hailing from Brazil, Angola, Italy and Greece.
Their music is a sonic journey blending Angolan semba, Brazilian forró, Cape Verdean rhythms and Mediterranean influences — a unique fusion, heir to what is known as the Black Atlantic. This blend is expressed through two albums: AYOM (2020), which lays the foundations for their hypnotic style, and Sa.Li. Va (2024), a manifesto centred on sacredness, freedom and courage, acclaimed by international critics. In 2021, they won the prestigious Songlines Music Award for ‘Best Band of the Year’, cementing their place amongst the greats of the world music scene.
On stage, it’s a total celebration: three percussionists, a spellbinding voice led by Jabu Morale, grooves that span continents, and songs performed in Portuguese, French, Italian and African languages, delivering a universal message of unity and freedom.
Having toured more than 15 countries last year, AYOM offers much more than just a concert: a musical journey where tradition becomes dance, history becomes groove, and every beat is an invitation to let yourself be carried away.
