For more than 50 years, Peter Thumm has mastered all the techniques of the art of ceramics with great skill, giving him complete freedom to devote himself entirely to artistic creation. In addition to commissioned works, unique pieces are created in his studios, sometimes also limited series, marked by his very personal style. Peter Thumm likes to break up the severity of geometric shapes – spheres, cubes, hexagons, octagons and cubes – with decorations sometimes inspired by classical antique models. Frescoes and reliefs are covered with figurative motifs in bright colours, in rhythmic, lively patterns that revolve around themes such as “dance and movement” or “man and nature”. Peter Thumm's artistic creations reflect his desire for dialogue between different cultural worlds and art forms. His work blends painting, sculpture and architecture into a unique creative whole.
