Heritage and monuments

The centuries have not got the better of Grimaud’s heritage which, today, makes this village in Var a must-see destination for all lovers of Provence, heritage and history.

Grimaud, in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, in a village that is fiercely proud of its history and Provençal soul as we can see in its medieval atmosphere, with its houses, narrow streets, and castle… The latter is the most famous of the monuments in Grimaud, but did you know that it is far from being the only historic building?

The religious monuments

There are six religious monuments in Grimaud in total: two churches and four chapels.

They were built between the 11th and 20th centuries and are dotted all over the local area.
From the village to Port Grimaud, Beauvallon and Queste, the local religious heritage has survived the centuries and Grimaud’s identity has been shaped around this heritage.

There are also a number of oratories that can still be seen today on the sides of the roads, such as the Saint-Joseph oratory.

The castle of Grimaud

Grimaud, in the land of Provence, is rich in history, most notably in the medieval village perched on its promontory.
