Birds on a wire

Music : Birds on a wire

Cultural, Concert in Sainte-Maxime
  • In a never-before-seen concert, the mesmerizing Rosemary Standley and Dom La Nena combine their vocals, instruments, and inspirations. As a way to commemorate 10 years of cooperation with Le Chant des Oiseaux and begin a new chapter in their glorious history.

Each night, a chorus of young ladies join in on a brand-new masterpiece that keyboardist Mike Smith has orchestrated.

The artistic encounter between Brazilian cellist Dom La Nena and the Franco-American Rosemary Standley of the folk ensemble Moriarty—who has accompanied tours by Jane Birkin, Jeanne Moreau, and Etienne Daho—is captured in the song Birds on a Wire, which is much more than just a relationship.
It unites a smooth, moire-like voice with a fluent, unadorned musicianship built on a huge repertoire that covers all periods and genres, from Purcell to Leonard Cohen, Monteverdi to Tom Waits, traditional melodies from Catalonia or Argentina...

They create a soundtrack in their own image, full of sweetness and delicacy, drawing on a musical legacy that these two birds daringly and timelessly renew.

When the voice and cello go to the air and let loose, they are all adventurous and occasionally even disrespectful. The most lovely route will be taken by those who adore them.
