Humour : Caroline Vigneaux

‘In Vigneaux Veritas
Should we take Caroline Vigneaux's word for it in her latest one-woman show, touching as it is with sincerity? At the midway point in her life, the former barrister, who has moved from the courtroom to the comedy stage, tells us truths and counter-truths with startling aplomb. She dares to do it all, in an argument that never loses momentum and is freer than ever!
Whether in a three-piece ivory suit or a sequined cocktail dress with stilettos, Caroline Vigneaux hides her game well, and has no equal when it comes to telling the truth - the whole truth, but not just the truth. And repeating over and over ‘Whose brilliant idea was it to...? ‘when it comes to recurring social issues: the legalisation of hard drugs in old people's homes, the dangers of pornography and Corn Flakes among young people, woke culture, his anxiety about artificial intelligence, not forgetting to mention his unforgettable affair with Brad Pitt... In short, grotesque or absurd situations straight out of a fantasised, truncated reality, a telescoping of ready-made ideas and hackneyed clichés. It's enough to trigger laughter and gnashing of teeth when she recalls happy or dramatic memories, such as her father's funeral on her birthday: ‘Give or take a day,’ she says, ‘I had one more present...’.
