Creation is a journey, an adventure that leads Angelin Preljocaj to new horizons. It explores a corporeal and choreographic requiem around the wound of mourning and its conflicting emotions: despondency, sadness, anger, but also the joy of embracing the wondrous miracle of existence. A majestic and mystical procession of bodies.

Requiem(s) is an introspective piece born from Preljocaj’s own experience of grief, enriched by his documentary research, works, films, and readings from Barthes (Journal of Mourning), Deleuze (Abécédaire), and sociologist Émile Durkheim. And, of course, music, which is the common thread in all of Angelin Preljocaj’s choreographies. Here, a sophisticated blend of Mozart’s requiems—including the famous Lacrimosa—alongside Ligeti, Bach, and Fauré, merges with the original compositions of the group 79D, whose tempos electrify Swan Lake. Indeed, Angelin Preljocaj has earned the nickname "the choreographer of sound" due to his numerous collaborations with prominent figures in the French music scene, such as Air, Laurent Garnier, and Thomas Bangalter. On stage, the ritual dissolves the spectacular as the movements of the nineteen dancers emerge and intertwine, sometimes with mechanical gestures that slice through the space like a blade, and at other times with a beautiful breadth. All within a profoundly human fragility…
