Dance me

Dance: Dance me

Cultural, Dance in Sainte-Maxime

From :  15 Full-fare
  • Dance as close as possible to the poetic breath of Montreal songwriter Leonard Cohen, between virtuosity, sensuality and energy. Between mysterious shadows and chiseled lights… in the image of his complex and profound work. The Ballet’s contemporary creativity resonates with its deep and captivating voice.

Suzanne, Hallelujah, Dance Me to the End of Love or Nevermind are forever etched in the collective memory. To the point of inspiring Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal a show in five acts choreographed by three emblematic figures, the Greek Andonis Foniadakis, the Belgo-Colombian Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Ihsan Rustem, trained in the United Kingdom.

All in total osmosis with the powerful universe of the poet. Approved by Leonard Cohen during his lifetime, this exclusive show fascinates by the intermingling of choreographic writings, enveloping music, video creations, the melodious sequence of ensemble paintings, intimate duets and soli.

Éric Jean’s inventive and highly elaborate staging sublimates this homage by fourteen performers to impeccable technique and breathtaking energy; to suppleness, speed, fluidity and bewildering precision.

Without being biographical, Dance Me comes to life in five seasons like so many decades of the musician’s existence: it is above all an inspiration around his songs, a free and abstract evocation imagined by Louis Robitaille, artistic director of the troupe. In France, there are few opportunities to see this piece that has been on the international stage since its creation…
