Cultural, Guided tour, Heritage days in Saint-Tropez

  • As part of the European Heritage Days, the Saint-Tropez Archives department is offering an introductory workshop in palaeography (deciphering ancient writing), on registration with Saint-Tropez Tourisme.

  • This workshop will provide the keys to deciphering ancient scripts. To do this, we'll study a text from the town's archives, written in 1665: the Saint-Tropez community regulations. This regulation sets out the procedures for electing and holding town councils at the time, and we'll be reading it to discover the differences, but also the similarities, between an ancien régime society in the 17th century and our own.
